  1. A Cup of Cheer

Christmas for me was always a receiving event. Who doesn’t like the presents, the money, the stockings?!?!? To this day my family and I do Christmas ministries through our church and try to make Christmas for children around the world better. I would do it but never get the true meaning. I would be like, I’m a good person now where are my gifts. Until I met my friend, Felicity. Felicity had never had a true Christmas. She grew up in an abusive family and she was removed from the house at age 7. Up until then she never had a Christmas. No presents, no love, no nothing. It just was another day in her life. Felicity made an impact on the way I saw Christmas from then on. And last year I had another one with my other best friend, Dylan. He was forced to move 300+ miles away from his mom and go to a new city, school, and live a new life. His dad also left. He went home for Christmas to his mom and didn’t see his dad. They taught me that on Christmas it’s not about what you get it’s about who you love and care about and spending time with them and showing them that you truly care. Now when I hear the lyric from Holly Jolly Christmas “But I’ll have a cup of cheer” I know what it means and how important it is to remember this and use this in your life.
